Hello & welcome to my small website on D-Models!

Im Sara and I'm 23 years old. In March 2012 I was diagnosed with bonecancer in my right leg. After a leg saving operation my tumor grow again and so I had to choose between a chemotherapy (with a chance of 20% that the tumor would return) or an amputation. Pretty soon I choose for an amputation. My rehabilitation didn't go as fast as it had to because the right prothesis couldn't be measured. Because of that I walked for a year and a half on crutches and sat in a wheelchair. Right before Christmas last year I finally got my prothetic leg and since then I'm starting to feel better. I walk and I cycle and because of that I feel much more independent. I Still find it hard to realize that I am the one who misses a part of her leg and when I look at the photo's it feels like a big confrontation. Every day I will stumble on thresholds, but I know I will overcome every one of them.

At this moment I'm a volunteer co÷rdinator for a project of Humanitas. This is not a full time job so I can quietly re-adjust to society. I see my friends on regular bases and I can really enjoy reading a book, when I have nothing else to do. I also like being creative. My goal for the future is to apply school in September 2015 to study History. Because history is my biggest passion I'm really looking forward to it. A few months ago I was asked if I was willing to do a photoshoot for the D-Models website. I have never had a shoot before so I thought it would be a fun thing to do. Beside my reason for doing it is because of my processing, I started not long ago. The shoot really contributed on the processing, in a creative way I paste the photo's into an album. Especially looking at the photo's I found it hard, that I really am the one who misses the leg. But I liked to do the photoshoot, it was a new experience for me and I'm happy with my photo's. Looking for the right places and poses to shoot, even when it was on crutches or in a wheelchear, was a nice part of the day. At the end it was a tiresome day, but I really like the results!

I hope you will like my photo's as much as I do myself and maybe in a while I will have some more taken in the future! I also hope that I can be an inspiration for other people that have to go through a difficult period in life like I did. If you have a question for me feel free to ask me by sending me an email!
