My name is Anouk and I'm 30 years old. I live in The Netherlands in a small village near Zwolle where I was also born. I live there now together with my husband and 2 kids. I'm married for almost 8 years now and our kids who are twins, a boy and a girl, are almost 7 years old. In June 2009 I was involved in a car crash. When I drove home in the early morning from a nightshift at work I was blinded by the upcoming low sun. I suffered some serieus injuries including to my spinal cord. I broke my lower back and also some nerves were damaged. During my time in hospital it turned out that I would never be able to walk again. I'm a complete paraplegic since and my level of injury is T12. This changed my life in a very drastic way. I lived a very active life with participate in sports like volleyball and running, I had a nice job as a nurse and was a mother of 2 young kids. I have a very positive look on life and I was lucky that I had the support of my family. This helped me a lot in the beginning. My husband also supported me, but when I came home for good after my time in rehab it all was too much for him. We spent some time apart but fortunately it didn't come to a divorce. After a while we decided to pick up the pieces and now we all have come to terms with my life in a wheelchair. Last year I started to work again. I now have an office job for 20 hours a week. In my spare time I like to paint, listen to music, going out with my handbike and spending time with my husband and kids of course. My dream and goal for the next few years is to have another kid. Whether this can become reality we will find out in the next few months. Another goal for me is to complete a marathon, and I then prefer the New York marathon. Last year I was just surfing the internet when I came across the D-Models website by accident. I liked the idea but didn't see myself as a model, besides I first thought the website was from another country. When I took a better look I saw that it was established in The Netherlands. I started thinking I can always ask if I am what they are looking for, if not no harm will be done. I talked about it with my husband and he gave me the last bit of confidence I needed to write an email. The answer I received was very positive but I still was not convinced that I would fit between all the other beautiful girls. I decided to do a photoshoot after all and I was very pleased with the result myself. It didn't even matter to me if other people would like them as well. I still can not believe that I received so many votes in the poll to decide the order of the new models and that I ended first! I hope this is a good beginning for my website!
